Audi Introduces 48 Volts Electrical System
Audi will upgrade the electrical system of the car from 12 volts to 48 volts. This step is a basic foundation to facilitate the integration of new technologies while increasing the power and efficiency of the car.
"Running a car electrical system at 48 volts plays an important role in our electrification strategy. It is useful to make more energy to be used," explained Prof. Dr. Ulrich Hackenberg, Member of the Board of Management for Technical Development of Audi.
This technology is installed in the Audi A6 TDI Concept and RS 5 TDI Concept. Both models are equipped with an electric compressor that works independent of engine load so as to improve acceleration fundamentally. Honda Introduces Advanced Anti Collision Features
Tokyo - Honda introduced the latest technology wrapped in Sensing driver-assistive system. The security features of these vehicles will be implanted in some models starting in late 2014. Sensing assistive driver is described as a step towards the realization of Honda free traffic collision. Sensing System uses millimeter-wave radar and a monocular camera to detect objects in front or pedestrians.
The system has five main functions, ie, Collision Mitigation Braking System that provide audio and visual warning when there is no potential for a collision. If the driver fails to react, the car will automatically start braking process itself in order to prevent or reduce the risk of accidents.
Second is the Road Departure Mitigation that uses a camera to give a warning when the car derailed. The steering wheel vibrating and audio alert is activated. If the driver fails to react, the car will try to steer back into the lane automatically. If the vehicle deviates too far, the car will automatically activate the brakes.
Third Pedestrian Collision Mitigation Steering system that uses radar and cameras to detect pedestrians and the boundary line on the side of the road. The system will read the current situation of the car towards the side line and the potential to hit a pedestrian. The car will automatically lead out of the way to prevent collisions.
Then the fourth system False Start reading Prevention Function stop lights on the vehicle in front. It helps when the driver was speeding, but there is a vehicle in front. The car will provide audio and visual alerts and vibration on the gas pedal.
Fifth is the Lead Car Departure Notification system that provides information via audio and visual when the situation will be met with a road traffic congestion. Five of these features complement the existing standard features such as Lane Keeping Assist, Traffic Sign Recognition and Adaptive Cruise Control with Low-Speed Follow.
